Providence specializes in Alzheimer's and Dementia care

Providence Specialty—Alzheimer's & Dementia care

We offer residential or home-care programs in which professionals are specially trained to work with clients who suffer from memory impairment, Dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, End-of-life, behavioral and mental disorders.

“Alzheimer’s..gradually destroys a person’s memory and ability to learn, reason, make judgments, communicate and carry out daily activities. As Alzheimer’s progresses, individuals may also experience changes in personality and behavior, such as anxiety, suspiciousness or agitation, as well as delusions or hallucinations.

Research has shown that effective care and support can improve quality of life for individuals and their caregivers over the course of the disease from diagnosis to the end of life.”
—Alzheimer’s Association

So very little is known about Alzheimer’s and other forms of memory-impairment. What we do know, however, is that these people who are slowly forgetting things that they once held dear, are someone who was just like you and me. They had parents, siblings, homes, jobs, and purpose. They laughed and cried and lived a life much like any other person before they became sick.

At Providence, we see behind memory-impairment and find ways to reach our clients where they are right now. We strive daily to preserve our client’s cognitive ability with keen observation, skillful tools specific to memory-impaired clients, and endless patience from our staff.

We create personalized care plans that consider medical, behavioral, social and environmental elements that can contribute to improving a person's ability to independently function, control mood-swings, and make each day one worth living.

With nearly 20 years of experience improving the lives of Alzheimer’s patients and their families, Providence developed an extensive staff training program dedicated to delivering care to seniors at all stages of memory loss while preserving their sense of self and dignity.

We focus on emotional healing rather than over-medicating anxious or agitated elderly. We provide visual cues to stimulate brain function and encourage patients to “re-learn” lost skills even if it might seem easier to just do it for them. We are advocates for our seniors in the broader community of doctors, social workers, nurses and all others entrusted with their care.

Most importantly, we add a unique Providence touch of compassion and love to our professional care program that makes every member of the Providence community a part of our Extended Family.
